Product description

We prepare our Cotton Extract from the root bark of Gossypium hirsutum plants which are Certified Organically Grown. To assure optimal extraction of Cotton’s bioactive compounds, the bark of the root is hand-harvested in the fall of the plants’ first year of growth, and is then promptly extracted while still fresh and succulent. Seek expert medical advice before taking during pregnancy.

  1. I decided to take this when I was approaching my 42nd week of pregnancy, per the recommendation of my midwife. I had a postdates induction in a hospital with my first baby, even though we’d planned a home birth, and I was hoping to be able to have our baby naturally at home the second time around. I took seven doses of this Herb Pharm cotton root bark (about a dropperful every half an hour) and went into labor eight hours after my last dose. I also took a small amount of castor oil several hours before labor started (2tbs and had no side effects from it), so that could also have helped to start labor.I’d recommend this for postdates pregnant women trying to induce labor at home instead of using pitocin. I had no side effects from it and it appears to be quite safe. It may well be effective, too. The taste isn’t great (but is relatively tolerable), so I diluted it in a little water and drank it quickly. I can say, “It worked for me” .. but I was due to go into labor at any moment, so it could have been a coincidence. It’s worth a shot.

  2. Top quality herb tincture. It does what it is supposed to do very very well. I will purchase again when necessary.

  3. Good stuff. I swear by this product.

  4. So hard to find in stores, I use it whenever my period is running “late” (I’ve always been irregular) and it hasn’t let me down. Tastes awful though.

  5. actually, it worked.

  6. Great uterine toner before having a baby (to be used only in the last month of pregnancy)

  7. Great quality product and it arrived quickly!

  8. the taste was not bad at all when mixed with a drink. I bought it for an intended purpose.. It did not work. However that does not mean it wont work for you. The company nerve said it was for what I used it for. So it is not their fault it did not work. I give it a 5 because the shipping was fast and the taste was not bad.

  9. great Product fast delievery

  10. Used as natural birth control during ovulation.

  11. Order came earlier then the posted date; Very happy! I put some drops in a small amount of juice based drink and haven’t had any issues with awful taste. So far it seems to be an effective product and no signs of toxicity. Cotton root is known for having harsh chemicals used on it since it is not typically used for commercial consumption.

  12. Great herb but not tasty

  13. I really have liked the quality of this herb.

  14. good price, shipping was on target

  15. Very foul taste, but slightly less horrible than one extract by a small batch artisan, so it is possibly weaker. Did not induce contractions but made me feel terrible.

  16. Does not work for herbal abortions

  17. This did in fact make me go into labor within hours of finishing the bottle. I accidently did take the dosage that said “immediate labor”. Once in labor i took 1 dropper full every 15 to 30 minutes to help contraction start and continue.

  18. Does help with muscle spasms

  19. I’ve been where you are, frantically searching for ANYTHING that might help me. This is gonna get long, but I’m going to try and write the review I wish I had seen when I stumbled upon this.Yes, it DOES work. But only if you start it early, within 2-3 week so of conception. Notice that I said “conception” and not “missed period”. If you’ve only checked after your last missed period, you will have already been 2-3 weeks post conception and the clock is ticking. If you catch this within that time frame (as in your know the early warning signs, since some tests won’t catch it this early), you need to start taking vitamin c for the first few days to inhibit progesterone. I took 2000mg every 2-3hrs, even waking up in the night to keep it in my system (warning: don’t eat anything spicy. Just, don’t. Your bowls will thank me). Then start taking 2 droppers full of the cotton root bark every 2-3 hours (yes, it’s disgusting. I put it in some juice and chugged it down). Don quai will also help you start cramping, which jump starts the process. I got through about half of the jar of cotton root bark by the time it worked for me.I must reiterate. You have to catch this EARLY. If you were supposed to have had your period two weeks ago (as in, you’re 4 weeks post conception), the chance of this working decreases substantially. I’m pretty sure it won’t work passed 5 weeks unless you’re very lucky. I tried this with a friend who found out 4 weeks after her last period (as in, she was 6 weeks post conception) and it did NOT work. When it happened to me, I had been tracking my period/ovulation cycles for 7 years prior and always knew which days to avoid – in fact, I knew I had been ovulating that day, but chose to be irresponsible cause, y’know ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). Since I was aware of my fertility cycles, I knew within a week of my body starting to feel off that something was up. By the two week mark, and my predictably missed period, I had already ordered what I needed (vitamin c, dong quai, and this). The best advice I could give you is to be very in touch with your body. I don’t use birth control and I try to stay healthy, so I know when my hormones are fluctuating and I recognize when my body is trying to tell me something. That was vital for my ability to catch this early. You can check out Sister Zues’ website for more information. Read the relevant sections all the way through and educate yourself. Whether you’re like me and prefer the fertility awareness method, or you use birth control or condoms, make sure you use some form of contraception for now on. Even if this method works, your body still goes through a lot of changes and produces hormones you have to recover from. Take care of yourself.Godspeed, ladies. Given the history of reproductive legislation, you cannot rely on the state to care about your best interests. Put your reproductive health in your own hands.

  20. I would also recommend looking into Pennyroyal (not the oil), Dong Quai, and Wild Carrot/Queen Annes Lace seeds/tincture (this one is a contraceptive, not an emmenagogue, but still–good things).I couldn’t have been more than 4 weeks along when I started taking this herb, given my period ended 4 weeks prior and I’d had unprotected sex on the last day of it. I’m the paranoid type so *as soon as* I started having symptoms, I knew what was going on & took a test.I read a review on here when I’d bought this before that mentioned a Sister Zeus, so I did some research on her & some other herbs and decided to give them all “a try.”About 4 days after taking these herbs, I started cramping and my period came within hours. It didn’t hurt, personally, felt just like any other period but slightly lighter. But I know that’s probably due to the fact I took it so early. As stated in another review, take them ASAP.Again, I did go overboard, and I was taking at least 1 dose of this cotton root bark, pennyroyal capsules, wild carrot, and dong quai daily, but it was apparently effective and still didn’t make me sick at all. A lot of online research led me to questionable sources and word-of-mouth about how taking this (and the other herbs) doesn’t work unless you take “lethal” doses, so I wanted to share my experience. I know all bodies are different, but still.Best of luck.

  21. This stuff worked for me for a very sensitive matter. Just make sure to use it carefully and persistently. Mixing it with a pineapple/mango juice really helps with the taste! Would recommend.

  22. I have been taking it to start labor naturally along with other oils and it worked for me.
