PASSION AND INTENSE QUALITY CONTROL, FROM START TO FINISH
Nova Scotia Organics is the culmination of one woman’s life’s work to identify, source and combine organic ingredients with preventative health properties, and to manufacture products with many of the problem solving capabilities of our original pantry and pharmacy: Nature. Then bring these high quality products to people who simply want to live healthy lives.
ABOUT NOVA SCOTIA ORGANICS
Organic products must contain at least 95% organic ingredients. The Nova Scotia Organics line is completely certified organic. We have developed processes that allow us to use organic ingredients as processing aids. It takes a little more time and costs more, but it is the right thing to do for the quality of our products. We believe that our consumers deserve nothing less! Our vitamins and minerals come largely from organic food sources.
Nova Scotia Organics sources over 100 different ingredients from countries all over the world: As far away as Peru, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, German, India, Chile and Brazil, and as close to home as the United States and the company’s own Canadian backyard. The company has built long-standing relationships with the best organic growers worldwide, ensuring Nova Scotia Organics is among the first in line to receive the finest crops.
When ingredients arrive at the farm, they’re logged in and set aside in quarantine. Every shipment is tested by our suppliers and by us before being released for use.
All plants contain compounds called phytochemicals, which help protect the plants. When you eat plant foods, you may also benefit from the protective properties of these compounds, which are divided into subcategories such as polyphenols and carotenoids. The most significant phytochemical in green tea is a polyphenol called epigallocatechin-3-gallate, or EGCG for short. In laboratory animal and human studies, the benefits of EGCG have begun to emerge.
Researchers believe that the health properties of green tea are mostly due to polyphenols. Polyphenols contained in teas are classified as catechins. Green tea contains six primary catechin compounds and EGCG is one of them. EGCG is the most studied polyphenol component in green tea and the most active.
Green tea has been consumed in Asia for thousands of years. More recently green tea has increased in popularity in the western hemisphere due to research on weight management.
